The first real test with iPhone 12 series Getting started this week, and one of them comes with a battery comparison with the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro. While the iPhone 12 gains autonomy longer than its predecessor, the Pro version can’t beat the previous generation.
Video of Arun Maini on his channel Mrwhosetheboss, shows a timed battery test that puts iPhone 12, 12 Pro, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, XR, and SE (2020) side by side, with the same brightness and usage settings. The smartphone runs iOS 14 and does not use a SIM card – therefore, connecting over Wi-Fi, does not use 5G.
In the video, the smartphone is set to run some games, such as Between us and Knight, in addition to playing videos on Instagram and YouTube and using the camera to record.
See the battery life and capacity of each cell phone below:
|iPhone 12 Pro||iPhone 12||iPhone 11 Pro Max||iPhone 11 Pro||iPhone 11||iPhone XR||iPhone SE (2020)|
|Battery capacity||2,815 mAh||2,815 mAh||3,968 mAh||3,046 mAh||3,110 mAh||2,942 mAh||1,821 mAh|
|Battery life||6:35 minutes||6:41 minutes||8h29min||7:36 am||5h08min||4:31 minutes||3h59 minutes|
As you can see in the table above, the iPhone 12 Pro failed to beat the iPhone 11 Pro branding, it lasted more than 7 hours until it completely discharged, under the same conditions. It’s worth remembering that the iPhone 12 Pro has a larger screen – 6.1 “versus 5.8” of its predecessor, which may contribute to the results, along with Apple’s reduced load capacity.
Although the iPhone 12 retains the same screen size of the iPhone 11, it now has an OLED panel, which is more economical. It has a slightly lower battery capacity, but in this case, the performance of the A14 Bionic chip is enough to make the dynamic range longer.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max’s battery is also reduced
The iPhone 12 Mini and Pro Max have yet to be tested as the smartphone only entered the pre-order phase on November 6. But it is worth mentioning that the strongest model in the iPhone 12 line has been approved by Anatel and according to information from the regulator, also has a reduced battery capacity.
It remains to be seen whether this factor, besides the larger, 6.7-inch display, can significantly reduce a smartphone’s autonomy.
